Quick answer: Prepare the complete document, acceptable identification, any required witnesses, and location details. Confirm the notarial act, appointment time, and total quote before the visit.
A mobile notary appointment is efficient by design, we come to you, whether that is your home, office, hospital, or any location in Southwest Florida. A few minutes of preparation beforehand makes the session faster and eliminates the most common causes of delay or rescheduling.
Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
A notary must establish each signer’s identity using a method allowed by Florida law. Ask about acceptable identification before the appointment. Common examples include:
- Florida driver's license or state ID
- U.S. passport or passport card
- U.S. military ID
- Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
- Other identification specifically permitted by Florida Statutes §117.05
For a traditional notarization, Florida’s listed identification credentials must be current or issued within the past five years and bear a serial or other identifying number. Credential-specific conditions apply. Ask the notary about your exact ID before the appointment; RON also has separate verification requirements.
If you are acting as an attorney-in-fact (signing under a Power of Attorney on behalf of someone else), bring both your own ID and a copy of the executed POA document.
Documents to Be Notarized
Have your documents ready and review them before the appointment. The notary facilitates the signing: they do not provide legal advice or review document content for accuracy. If there are blanks that need to be filled in, complete them before the notary arrives. A document with blank spaces cannot be notarized.
Witnesses (If Required)
Ask the document preparer about the number and qualifications of witnesses. Whether the notary may also serve as a witness depends on the document and circumstances. Arrange the required witnesses before the appointment.
A Quiet, Well-Lit Location
For ID verification and document review, adequate lighting and a flat writing surface are practical necessities. A kitchen table works perfectly. If you are in a hospital or care facility, we will adapt, but alerting facility staff that a notary is coming reduces any logistical friction at the front desk.
Payment
Florida generally limits a traditional notarial act to $10, subject to statutory exceptions; online notarization has a separate fee limit. Request a complete quote for notarization, travel, and any other agreed services before booking.
