Notary needs rarely follow a convenient schedule. A parent's health deteriorates overnight, requiring an urgent power of attorney. A real estate closing is pushed to Saturday evening. A business deal closes on a holiday. When those moments arrive, 9-to-5 availability is not a solution.
What Makes an Emergency Notary Situation
The most common urgent notary requests we receive involve:
- Hospital and hospice: powers of attorney, healthcare surrogates, and living wills for patients who are hospitalized or whose condition is deteriorating
- Same-day real estate: last-minute closings, seller documents that arrive late, or out-of-state buyers who need same-day RON
- Business and legal deadlines: affidavits, sworn statements, or corporate resolutions needed before a court filing or business deadline
- Estate documents: wills and trusts when family members are together for a short window and an attorney has prepared the documents
For hospital and care facility visits, please notify facility staff that a notary will be arriving. Most facilities require check-in and may have visitor policies that affect access. A brief heads-up prevents delays.
How We Handle Emergency Requests
Text or call (239) 628-9887 directly. We do not route through an answering service for urgent requests. When you reach us, we will confirm availability, clarify what documents and witnesses (if any) are needed, and agree on a meeting location. For after-hours mobile appointments in Southwest Florida, response time is typically under an hour.
For out-of-state or remote emergency needs, a RON session can often be arranged within 30–60 minutes of contact, depending on timing and platform availability.
What to Have Ready
In emergency situations, preparation is difficult. The minimum we need to proceed:
- Valid government-issued photo ID for every signer
- The document(s) to be notarized: printed and complete, with all blanks filled
- Required witnesses present if the document type requires them
If the document is not yet final, let us know when you call. We can advise on what is needed and hold a time slot while you finalize the paperwork.
